Cats in not so clever shock

Submitted by mary on Tuesday, 16 June 2009One Comment

For those of us who have witnessed the raining out the front door, run to the back door thinking the weather’s better there manouver, or watched a cat slowly licking up some dust from the floor, the news that cats aren’t always that clever doesn’t come as too much of a shock.

However, a recent psychology study reported in the Guardian has shown that sample study cats don’t understand cause and effect. Using a sophisticated biscuit on string method they realised that a bunch of cats didn’t realise that pulling on the string would bring them the biscuit. So what says your average cat, all you have to do is tear open the biscuit box and tuck in.

We reckon it just gives our feline friends a good excuse to explain away their bad behavior, so if they jump on the Christmas tree from a great height, how are they to know that it will fall down…
